SMALL ACTS HAVE BIG IMPACTS

Proud to be
In Your
Community
South Block's journey began with a mission to unite the local community through good vibes and awesome food. The founder, Amir, grew up in McLean, VA, where his parents owned local video stores, fostering his deep appreciation for community connections.
After noticing a lack of fresh juice and smoothie options in the DMV, Amir opened his first juice bar, Campus Fresh, in 2006 at George Washington University. Over five years, he honed his craft, built meaningful connections, and supported the GWU community through student fundraisers.
In 2011, Amir launched the first South Block in Clarendon, VA, on the "South Block" side of town—a modest 700-square-foot space. Guided by the belief that small acts of kindness could create significant impacts, Amir and his team immersed themselves in the community, supporting local businesses and schools.
What began as a small juice shop grew through hard work, dedication, and spreading good vibes. With lines out the door and buzzing neighborhoods, South Block became a beloved staple, expanding its mission to other "blocks" and continuing to share its positive energy and fresh, delicious offerings—like authentic açaí bowls—one block at a time.

Our Mission at South Block is making people feel awesome one block a time.
We believe in the power of small acts to create big changes. Our purpose? To Make People Feel Awesome!
We’re here to brighten your day, uplift your week, and maybe even change your life. We believe the positive energy we put into the world ripples outward, creating real impact.
Whether it’s through kind words, a delicious smoothie, a tasty açaí bowl, or supporting local causes, we’re here to remind you of one thing:

Empowering change through conscious consumerism.
At South Block, every acai bowl you enjoy does more than nourish your body—it supports fair trade practices, the Amazon Rainforest, and its people.
Not all acai is created equal. Sadly, some acai farms exploit unethical labor practices, including child labor. That’s why we’re committed to sourcing our acai from a small, organic, fair trade farm in the Amazon. Our farm follows strict labor and harvesting guidelines, ensuring fair wages and ethical practices. Though we choose to pay more for these standards, it’s a choice we stand by for the quality and integrity of our product.
